How to get to Ruka
As well as your own car, you can travel to Ruka by bus, train or plane. By train you need to travel to Oulu, Rovaniemi or Kemijärvi and then take a car or bus the rest of the way.

By plane
Finnair flies from Helsinki to Kuusamo all year round. During the winter season, there are flights twice a day, on the busiest days four times a day. The flight time from Helsinki to Kuusamo is about 1-1.5 hours.
All Finnair’s scheduled flights have an airport bus service to Ruka. If you want to take a taxi from the airport to Ruka, it is recommended to book a taxi in advance.
From Europe, Kuusamo can be reached via Lufthansa via Frankfurt.
By train
By train you can reach Oulu (Ruka 245 km / bus to Kuusamo 3 h), Rovaniemi (Ruka 200 km / bus to Kuusamo 3 h 50 min) and Kemijärvi (Ruka 130 km / bus to Kuusamo 2 h 30 min).
It is recommended to check the connection to Kuusamo in advance, unless you are travelling by car.
By bus
The bus journey from Helsinki to Kuusamo has one changeover in Oulu.
From Oulu you can take a daily bus to Kuusamo, on certain days also directly to Ruka. See more detailed schedules and tickets on the Matkahuolto or Onnibus website. In November-April, Skibus also operates between Oulu and Ruka.
You can get to Kuusamo by bus from Rovaniemi and Kemijärvi on weekdays. From Kuusamo, the journey continues by local bus to Ruka.
By car
The distance from Helsinki to Ruka is about 800 kilometres. You can find a parking space for your car in the yard of our cottages and there is also a plenty of parking space around the fell.
When driving from Helsinki to Ruka, the electric car can be charged with a high-power charger at the McDonalds in Graani, Mikkeli.
You can also use VR’s car train service and drive to Kuusamo from Oulu, Rovaniemi or Kemijärvi.
